How to prepare buckwheat
Sort out the cereal first. Even if you buy an expensive product, there is a chance that it will contain plant debris. So do not be too lazy to look through the buckwheat and remove all foreign elements.
Then rinse the cereal under running water until the liquid becomes clear.
To make the dish even more crumbly and fragrant, you can additionally calcine the dried cereal in a hot pan. Set the fire to a small one and do not overdo it: a light buckwheat aroma should appear. As a rule, 3-4 minutes is more than enough for this.
How much water to take
Most often, water is used twice as much as buckwheat. That is, for 1 glass of cereal you will need 2 of the same glasses of water. In this case, buckwheat will turn out crumbly. But if you like viscous porridge, take plenty of liquid – for example, 2.5 or 3 cups.

What to add to buckwheat
Salt must be added to the water. For 1 cup of cereal, ¹⁄₂ teaspoon of salt or even a little less is enough. But it is better to be guided by your taste. It’s okay if you add salt to the already prepared porridge. You can also add your favorite spices.
After cooking, put a piece of butter in buckwheat and leave it under the lid for a few minutes – this will make the porridge more tender and fragrant.
How to cook buckwheat in a pan
Put the cereal in a saucepan with a thick bottom and cover with water. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 15-20 minutes. Many people throw buckwheat into already boiling water. In this case, the cooking time does not change, but it is necessary to reduce the fire immediately after adding the cereal.
During cooking, you do not need to stir the porridge. Readiness of buckwheat can be checked by running a spoon along the bottom. If there is no water there, then the pan can be removed from the stove.
If you are afraid that you will be late and the cereal will burn, remove it from the fire a little earlier and leave it under the lid for 10 minutes. The buckwheat will absorb the remaining water.

How to cook buckwheat without cooking
Pour the cereal into a glass dish with a lid. A regular jar or glass container will do. If there is no suitable container, use a deep plate, and instead of a lid, use a flat saucer.
Remember that buckwheat increases in volume, so dry cereal should not take up more than half of the dishes.
Pour boiling water over the cereal, cover and leave for at least 1 hour. You can additionally wrap dishes. Buckwheat should swell and absorb liquid.
Instead of boiling water, you can use cold water, but the porridge should be infused for at least 6 hours. In this case, the container must be removed in the refrigerator.
